Portugal to Have Over €5 Billion for Investment
Prime minister António Costa said that the country would see investments of over €5 billion under the Portugal 2020 project – a partnership agreement undertaken between Portugal and the European Commission.
“The state is responsible for creating better conditions for investment”, Costa said at the inauguration of plastics company Roclayer, in Vila Velha de Ródão. “Today, €4 billion arrived for investments,” he added.
Costa added that investing in the country’s interior was vital and that at least €1.7 billion out of the €5 billion had to be invested by companies in the interior.
Costa launched company investments in three Portuguese municipalities on Tuesday as part of a government initiative titled “Roadmap of Investment in the Interior.”
The prime minister is to oversee the signing of the first of four contracts for investments approved last Thursday at a cabinet meeting involving €350 million.
